When your day starts off as one huge Lemon....

I knew that today was not going to be exactly what I wanted it to be when I awoke from a horrible nightmare and thought my eldest son was standing next to me...

But you know it's a dream because your waking up to your child when they were much younger standing next to you...caught in a dream within a dream moment...and than you can't reach him right away so you stress...but not to much because you know if it was something really bad you'd get a call....you also realize you've perhaps watched one to many horror flicks with your 21 year old son this past summer months!

The brakes in the car go out while your youngest son was driving it...yet he responded exactly as a person is suppose to and got the car back home and parked safe...cuts short plans made for the weekend....oh well...at least I'm in the country and not stuck in the city limits....

Than your youngest son comes and says mom can you look at my throat it hurts...oh my...strep...just what he needed....yes definitely cuts into any plans made for the weekend...but at least he is home and not stuck somewhere while sick with strep sucks it can be treated.

Pop a small glass of chilled Hpnotic out for Mom, walk down to the mail box and Christmas in a bottle arrives in August...the parrot is dancing to Stevie Wonder....Kal El has the moves down tonight and is lost in his own world of dancing and music while he sings his appreciation over his pasta in his dinner plate with verts on the side and a piece of apple along with wild black berries from the back yard....

Suddenly the world is no longer a huge lemon, but has turned into a wonderful tall glass of Lemonade...Genies are released as you open the cap and take the first tentative whiff...sighs of pure joy come from deep within you and you think "Finally...someone understood what it is a woman wants to smell like"...I'm in Love with a Mistress of the Scented world...this tiny bottle is a Magical Dream turned into reality. That dark, dank, gloomy cloud that has been floating around my brain cells are lifted and the sun has arisen within my grey mater. Just think...I haven't even spritzed any on myself yet.

So with trepidation I give a small spritz on my wrist....just because something smells so blissful in a bottle....any Lady can tell you it can turn into Cat Piss when mixed with the wrong body chemistry....."ohhhhhhhhh" is the only sound that escapes from my lips....the youngest son comes into the room and states he can smell that even with his stuffed up nose when I offer up my wrist for him to take a sniff and he gives his approval.

"Not bad at all Mom" is the highest of compliments from that young man....and he just gave that rating to me, his mother! We mothers know how even more rare that is from some sons. More Magic happening from just one whiff!

As I sit and take another Blissful sniff...images begin to float around in my head and I feel the urge to paint in color...for the first time in a long time I don't have to force it, it is coming on it's own. I am drawing something beautiful and happy. Magical things really do come in small packages....Thank You Mandy. More than you can ever understand or realize, you've helped me rediscover my muse once more.

"Haute Claire"... I can smell notes of galbanum, clary sage, oh yesssss....this makes me want to dance.... I catch a hint of lime, orange, honeysuckle, Ylang Ylang is in the mix and vanilla. While I will be missing out on Joshua's fun activities in Detroit with the fundraiser I no longer mind...I'll be lost with my paints and a canvass......and my Muse, welcome home dragon, it's been a long time since I last saw you.......now let's hit that drawing board.

Responding to Sister T's end of the year Blog...

The biggest problem today is that the designers have forgotten that REAL females want to look and smell like a REAL FEMALE!

I don't want to look unisex in the boardroom to be taken seriously...come on this is not the 1960s anymore, I am Woman I want to Smell like one. If your Male Ego can not stand to lose on the Playground.

Who cares?

I'm not going to pander to it to make you feel better. Man Up and get over it dude. I can make the Bacon, Bring it home and cook it too....I'm not saying your not useful and I don't appreciate your being a Man. But come on to many Boys parading as Men out in the World give the Real Men bad names.

I want to be appreciated as a Woman, I want to look like one, smell like one. I don't want to smell like a piece of candy or fruit so that your idea of a little girl who swoons over your every word fantasy is met. I'm not twenty any more. I am a grown woman with thoughts of my own, with strengths and scars of a life lived stands before you.

I want a scent that can stand with me in strength, in soft moments, in quiet moments and let me still shout at the world moments. I want a scent that announces a Woman and not a girl has entered the room, you better sit up and take notice.

I'm not about to fight like a bitch in heat to get your attention dude, the little girls do that. If you want something like this, you better have the balls to approach me. And trust me, there are Real Men who will and do.

I am not a gay man trying to look like a straight woman, I don't want to smell like one. I don't want a politically correct scent...I'm not a fashion model trying to look like a human skeleton so that the clothes have no shape as they move down the runway. I don't want that image brought up when you get a whiff of me. I am not Paris Hilton or those other Hollywood types of Females that you have been pandering too.

I have parts that jiggle and wriggle, I have breasts that are REAL, nothing plastic here, I am no Barbie Doll. I don't want to smell like one.

So for the upcoming year of 2011...Can you Designers of the Fragrance get your heads out of your rumps, and Design a Mans Scent for those of our Brothers that will make me stop in my tracks and say HELLO...and can you design a few scents that the moment I open the bottle just a whiff of it will announce "Here cometh a Real Female" .....

Fun Recipes...

* MISSISSIPPI SIN DIP*

1-lb roll spicy sausage or fresh made spicy sausage
2 pkgs cream cheese, softened
1 8 oz sour cream
1 8 oz pkg of shredded white cheddar cheese
1 small can green chillies
1 loaf French bread or 2-round Hawaiian breads
1 bag of Frito Scoops

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Hollow out bread and reserve the bread that was removed.
Crumble and cook Sausage until done.
In a large bowl combine all ingredients, softened cream cheese,
sour cream,
shredded cheese, sausage, chillies.

Pour mixture into the hollowed out bread; cover completely
with aluminum foil.
Place on baking sheet and bake in a 350°F degree oven until
mixture is melted and bread is crisp (about 30-45 minutes).

Remove foil and bake additional 5-10 minutes to brown
top.

Toast the bread chunks that were left over to make them a
little crispy to dip. Place chips around the bread on dish and
serve.

*Fruit Salad*

7 ounces Greek yogurt (recommended: Fage Total)
1/3 cup good bottled lemon curd
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups sliced strawberries (1 pint)
1 cup raspberries (1/2 pint)
1 cup blueberries (1/2 pint)
2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons limoncello liqueur
1 banana, slicedFresh mint springs

~*For the lemon yogurt topping, whisk together the yogurt, lemon curd, honey, and vanilla and set aside at room temperature.

~*For the fruit salad, carefully toss together the strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, sugar, and limoncello. Allow them to stand at room temperature for about 5 minutes to let the berries macerate with the sugar and liqueur. Gently fold the banana into the mixture.

~*Serve bowls of fruit with a dollop of lemon yogurt on top. Top each with a sprinkle of fresh chiffonnade of mint.

~*Lemon Simple Syrup*

1 cup sugar
1 cups water
1 lemon, zested and juiced

In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, water, lemon zest, and lemon juice over medium heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool, about 20 minutes.

Yield: 1 3/4 cups

No matter where you live in the world, the only way to help the economy grow, is to support
the local business. If you do not support the local shops, farmers and Artist who will?
The crafts people in that area need to make a living, the business people can not grow and hire local workers if there is no support of the business. When on vacation take the time to shop the local markets, talk to the people who live in the area and go meet the crafts people and farmers in person...the power is in our hands on how our hard earned money is spent...so shop wisely and shop local to where you happen to be at...:0)

BACON WRAPPED STUFFED JALAPENOS

1 pound raw Jalapenos
1 package 8 oz. cream cheese
1 bag of shredded jalapeno jack cheese
1 1/2 pound of Bacon
toothpicks (soaked in water for about 30 minutes, to
prevent burning)

Cut jalapenos in half, coring and removing seeds.
Bring a pot of water to boil, add a little salt, and boil
jalapenos for a couple of minutes until soft, but still a
little firm.
This step will reduce a little bit of the heat from the
peppers.

Next, put cream cheese and shredded cheese in a bowl and
mix well.
After straining & cooling the jalapeno halves, stuff
with cheese mixture (about a tablespoonful) then wrap a slice
of bacon around the pepper, securing the bacon with a toothpick.

These may be grilled on the BBQ pit or baked at 375°F
until cheese has melted and bacon is crisp and brown.

Makes 30 peppers.

Summertime Chicken & Goat Cheese Cups

No stick cooking spray

12 count muffin tin

1lb chicken, cubed

1 package refrigerated pie crust

1 pint fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries or blackberries)

8 ounces goat fresh goat cheese

4-5 mint leaves

Heat a medium sauté pan over medium heat.

Add chicken and cook until cooked through (165 degree internal temperature)

Meanwhile unroll pie crusts and lay flat.

Slice into four equal portions.

Slice middle pieces into threes.

Spray tin with no stick cooking spray.

Lay pie crust pieces in the tin cups.

Layer with about 2 tbsp of chicken, a couple of berries and about 3 tsp goat cheese.

Bake at 375 for about 10-12 minutes.

Chop mint and garnish cups with mint.

Serve warm or cold.

Stuffed Zucchini Serves 4
2 medium zucchini (about 8 inches) ¾ lb. 90% Meijer lean ground beef 1 small onion, chopped ½ c. large fresh mushrooms, quartered ½ cup chopped red bell pepper ½ cup chopped green bell pepper 1 cup 2% shredded Mexican four cheese blend, divided Salt and pepper to taste
1. Cut zucchini in half lengthwise; scoop out pulp, leaving a ½ inch shell. Finely chop pulp.
2. In a skillet, cook beef, zucchini pulp, onion, mushrooms and peppers over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
3. Remove from the heat. Add ½ cup cheese, salt and pepper; mix well.
4. Spoon into the zucchini shells. Place in greased 11x8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until zucchini is tender.

Tomato and Provolone Sandwiches
Serves 4

1 small clove garlic, finely chopped
¼ cup Meijer low-fat mayonnaise
2 tbsp. chopped fresh tarragon or basil or 1 tsp. dried
1 tbsp. lemon juice
¼ tsp. freshly ground pepper
Pinch of salt
8 slices Meijer whole-grain bread
4 slices provolone cheese (about 4 oz.)
2 large or 3 medium tomatoes (about 1-1/2 lbs.), sliced ½-inch thick

1. Position rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler.
2. Mash garlic on a cutting board with the side of a chef's knife or a spoon until a paste forms. Transfer to a small bowl and combine with mayonnaise, tarragon (or basil), lemon juice, pepper and salt.
3. Place bread on a large baking sheet and broil until lightly toasted, 1 to 2 minutes. Turn the bread over and divide cheese among 4 of the pieces. Continue broiling until the cheese is melted, 1 to 2 minutes.
4. Assemble sandwiches with tomato and the garlic-herb mayo. Top with the melted cheese bread.

Corn and Basil Cakes

Serves 5 (2 cakes each)

½ cup white whole-wheat flour (such as King Arthur)
½ cup Meijer low-fat milk
2 large eggs
2 tbsps. Meijer canola oil
½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp ground pepper
2 cups fresh corn kernels (about 2 large ears or frozen)
½ cup chopped fresh basil

1. Whisk flour, milk, eggs, 1 tbsp. oil, baking powder, salt and pepper in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in corn and basil.
2. Brush a large nonstick skillet lightly with some of the remaining 1 tbsp. oil; heat over medium heat until hot (but not smoking). Cook 4 cakes at a time, using about ¼ cup batter for each, making them about 3 inches wide. Cook until the edges are dry, about 2 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown on the other side, 1 to 3 minutes more. Repeat with the remaining oil and batter, making 10 cakes total. Reduce the heat as necessary to prevent burning.
Serve Corn Cakes as a side dish with barbecued chicken or pork chops and a green salad.

Sour Cherry Fizz & Blueberry Lemonade:

Water
Handful of fresh tart cherries
Sugar

To make a simple syrup, combine above ingredients in a sauce pan and simmer for approximately 10 minutes. Strain liquid, cool. In a 20 oz. glass filled with ice, combine 2 oz. of simple syrup with soda water. Garnish with fresh tart cherries.

To make blueberry lemonade, substitute blueberries in simple syrup recipe. After syrup has cooled, replace soda water with lemonade.

Earth Ocean Wind & Fire





Earth, we don’t really know when it will move.
Ocean, we don’t know when there will be a flood.
Wind, we don’t know when and where it will hit.
Fire, it can happen anywhere.
Earth gives us vegetation and meats.
Ocean gives us water and sea life.
Wind allows us to breathe and to live.
Fire allows us to cook.
They are good and they are bad.
They can give and they can take away.
Either way we cannot live without them.
Don’t take things for granted, be gracious and be respectful.

(Steamed Thai Black Rice


Makes about 4 cups

- 2 cup Thai Black rice (Thai wild rice)

- 2 cups Boiling water

- 10 cups Water in a steamer

A traditional way to cook Thai black rice is to soak rice in cold water over night, then steam over boiling water for 30 minutes.

For a quick method of preparing steamed Thai black rice:

Soak black rice in 2 cups of boiling water for 20 minutes. While rice is
soaking, prepare steamer by putting 10 cups of water into the steamer and bringing to boil. Place black or dark colored cloth napkin on steamer tray (white colored cloth will get dark stain from black rice). Drain soaked rice through the napkin, into the water below then fold the 4 sides to cover rice. Cover steamer with a lid and steam for 20 minutes. Remove cooked rice from steamer and rice is ready to be eaten or used to prepare other dishes.



Earth Rice
2 cups Cooked Thai wild rice
½ cup Coconut milk
2 tablespoons Palm sugar
½ teaspoon Sea salt

(Cooked Thai Hom Mali Rice (Thai Jasmine Rice)


Makes about 6 cups
- 2 cups Thai Jasmine rice

- 2 2/3 cups Water

Place rice and water in a small stockpot (nonstick pot works best) over high heat and bring to a boil. It takes about 3-4 minutes to come to boil. Stir rice to loosen it and prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Reduce heat to low and cover with a tight lid. Simmer the rice for 12 minutes, turn off the heat and let it stand undisturbed for 5 more minutes. Rice is ready to eat or for use in a stir-fry.
                 
Ocean Rice
2 cups Cooked Jasmine rice
½ cup Finely chopped cilantro
½ teaspoon Sea salt
½ teaspoon Granulated garlic
½ teaspoon Ground white pepper

Makes about 4 cups

- 2 cups Thai Sticky Rice (Thai Sweet Rice)

- 3 cups Boiling water

- 10 cups Water in a steamer

A traditional way to cook sticky rice is to soak rice in cold water overnight or at least 3 hours, then steam over boiling water for 25 to 30 minutes.

For a quick method, soak rice in 3 cups of boiling water for 15 minutes. While rice is soaking, prepare steamer by putting 10 cups of water in the steamer and bringing it to boil. Place a cloth napkin on steamer tray. Drain soaked rice through the napkin letting the soaking liquid drain into the bottom of the steamer. Fold the 4 sides of napkin to cover rice and put the lid on the steamer. Steam sticky rice for 20 minutes. Remove cooked rice from the steamer and it is ready to be eaten as part of a meal or used to prepare other dishes.

Wind Rice
2 cups Cooked sticky rice
½ cup Coconut milk
4 tablespoons Sugar
½ teaspoon Sea salt

Fire Rice

1 cup Cooked Jasmine rice
1 tablespoon Santa Fe chili powder
½ teaspoon Granulated garlic
½ teaspoon Sea salt

                
Combine ingredients in 4 separate bowls and mix each bowl thoroughly. Transfer
each bowl to a serving platter and arrange in a circle. Rice is ready to eat as part of the 
Feast. 

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

BLACKBERRY ACID

6 cups fresh blackberries, rinsed and drained well
6 cups filtered or bottled water
2 tablespoons tartaric acid
Granulated sugar

1. Put blackberries in large, heat-resistant glass bowl or non-reactive container. Bring water to a boil, remove from heat and stir in tartaric acid. Pour water over berries, cover, and let rest for 6 hours or overnight.

2. Place strainer over large pitcher. Rinse clean, linen tea towel in cool water, squeeze out excess, and line the strainer with towel. Strain the berry/water mixture without pressing on or crushing the berries. Discard resulting solids.

3. Measure volume of strained liquid and transfer to large nonreactive saucepan. Add sugar equal to the juice's volume and heat over low heat, stirring until dissolved.

4. Cool and store tightly covered in the refrigerator for 2 weeks before serving. To serve, mix 2-3 tablespoons with water, seltzer, or white wine over ice.

~*~ Tartaric acid, a natural acidic compound found in fruits like grapes or tamarind, is used in wine making and has one very common by-product, cream of tartar. It can be found in wine and beer-making supply stores and online.

RASPBERRIES SUGARED

2 cups fresh unblemished raspberries, about 1 pound
2 cups granulated sugar

1. Carefully pick over and clean berries. Put berries in large bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Using forks or potato masher, mash berries until liquefied, with no trace of berries left.

2. Transfer to clean jars and refrigerate at least 2 days before using. Sugared raspberries will keep up to 1 year in the refrigerator.

Makes 2 cups.

~*~ Smash raspberries with equal amounts of sugar, refrigerate it, will produce a very delicious raspberry preserve. It will last for months in the refrigerator, making the treats of summer enjoyable long into the fall and winter.

With the south celebrating with Masks and Drinks this week and myself being up north surrounded by snow and ice, the hands that are bored just doodle...no fine art, just boredom and doodling...masks of all kinds...and thoughts of the many masks people wear that hide what and who they are race through the brain waves...

Ruby James needs a helping hand

You may or may not be aware that Ruby James just completed her new album in Austin, Texas with the legendary Charlie Sexton. This project started about three years ago, and at that time we were simple calling it "The Austin Sessions". The album is now called, "Happy Now" and is sitting at the printers as I write this message to you.

As the holiday season approaches us we sometimes forget about what is happening in the rest of the world. Comfortable to snuggle in with friends and family, drink a little too much eggnog and eat just a few too many cookies. We look at the lights that decorate our own little neighborhood, put up our trees and shop for gifts. It can be both a festive and a stressful time of year. There are some of us that wait until the last minute to shop and some of us that are totally ready three days before Thanksgiving. As you think about gifts for the holidays I would like to encourage you to reach a little deeper this year.

The economy has affected all of us. Now I am getting to that "rest of the world" statement I made in the previous paragraph. The music industry has been affected. Musicians have been affected two fold and three fold. There are no more artist development deals from labels really, or they are few and far between. It is truly a "do it yourself" industry with Independent Artists barely able to survive. Sometimes you get lucky and you find someone to invest in your career, to help you move to the next level. Sometimes great talents lay hidden because they cannot reach their target audience because they lack the funding to do so.

Ruby James is one of those. Just a few short days ago the economy threw us for a loop. The investor that had been helping us to get to the next level withdrew his backing. It wasn't that he didn't believe in Ruby, or that she could make it, it was simply the stock market. He no longer had the funds to go forward. Without the funding Ruby has a webpage, (www.rubyjames.com) that is under construction and cannot be finished, though you can still shop there and pre-purchase "Happy Now" and buy her "Desert Rose" album. There are other expenses that cannot be met, albums at the printers, mailings to media. Without funding it is possible that this album, will set on a shelf only to be heard by a few people that have pre-ordered it.

So for this holiday season, if you have read this far into this message, I am reaching out to you. Asking you to purchase one more gift. The gift of a dream. THE METAL OX

Metal Ox people work harder and more scrupulously than most people, including other Oxen. They always show a boldness and drive and will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Like all Oxen, they are completely trustworthy and dependable, but they are not ones to display their emotions freely or openly. These Oxen have the strength of steel, with a will to match. Often, this strength and ruthless will make it difficult for them to identify with the feelings of others around them. However, an Ox is always willing to defend what he knows to be true and won't give up until he has proven what he knows to be true.

SCORPIO OX

Determination and strong will characterize the Scorpio Ox. These Oxen will strive and do whatever they must in order to reach their goal. They are intense lovers, but you'll never be able to read their emotions because they keep them tucked away.

Though they are quite open-minded, once Ox people have made a decision about something, they rarely change it. This is a defining characteristic that can be seen as obstinacy, but it is actually the way an Ox learns to be strong, brave and straightforward.

Who are you when you are not being productive?

The child….
Hiding from hidden truths sometimes….hiding from past pains at moments…dealing by not dealing….there are moments when all of us stop being productive and just float along the currents that carry us in whatever direction it happens to be floating in….

But we can not remain unproductive because life does not allow that….we have lessons to learn, lessons to teach to others…. even when we don’t want them…something will always happen to force us back into being productive once again.

Who are you in your dreams?

The watcher.
Sometimes standing beside me as she shows me an event.
Sometimes I see everything through her eyes.
Which is disconcerting at times, to feel like a complete stranger within yourself. I know I am watching an event that has yet to come when I see through the eyes. My inner self wants to pay close attention to the smallest of details and I than record them in a dream journal upon awakening.

Who is the you that notices your thoughts?

Like most people I would most likely say the observer.
The part of myself that observes all that is around me, that inner conscience that reminds me that some thoughts can only lead to dark places that attract more dark to us. Or that we can refuse to allow ourselves to be turned into evil and to turn those thoughts into positives……not always an easy task…..but always possible if we work at it…

I hang onto a quote by Bill Cosby when in my darkest moments….."If you can find humor in anything, you can survive it."

My sense of humor is not always understood by outsiders…..but those who honestly care about me, realize it is how I cope. It keeps me human…some days it may be dark humor, but it is still humor…some days it is silly, or outrageous humor that gets me through a day….the macabre humor can be just as healing as the silly slap stick humor can be for me….

Where does your mind go when you sit in a still moment under an immense sky?

It goes to being free.

Freedom to go where ever it chooses….I can fly with the Eagles, I can float along with the clouds…swim with dolphins in my minds eye…I can run with wolves, or just lie still and imagine what the Stones feel to remain in one spot forever, observing life that teems around it year after year….being exposed to the elements having no control over what happens to it, being shaped by the elements year after year, never really remaining the same as the winds, rain, snow and ice change the shape of them in time….

I realize it is the same with myself….even when I stand still and try not to move or change, I still am changed by events that I have no control over. But I still have the Freedom to learn how to control how I respond to the changes. Sitting still under an immense sky reminds me of that fact….it allows me to breath for a moment, to recharge my inner battery, and to become still and find peace within myself when I need it the most. It gives me time to dream.


In your own history, what has been the best rhythm and way for you to come to know your own truth?

When I stop all motion and become still.

Taking stock of the world around me, I lie down in a soft part of earth. I feel the rhythms of the earth. I listen to the sound of the wind. I listen to the sounds of the life that teem around us each day. For even when all is silent, there is still sound within the silence. I know that makes no sense to a lot of people, it contradicts itself in it’s very thought process. Which should explain me more to you…

When I have just stopped completely. Than and only than did I realize something that was so simply right in front of me the entire time. I just had to stop long enough to see it. To allow myself to know it, to feel it.

What surprises you in your current life?


People are a constant source of surprise for me.

I always expect more than a lot of them seem able of being…You expect honor, honesty,…you expect compassion and empathy….and those you expect it from seem to fail at it miserably….than out of no where, you will find these in people you would never have dreamed these qualities to come from….the package is not what we expected it to come wrapped up in. I love that about humanity, and I hate it as well. I am learning to observe people more, or perhaps it is simply I have a new pair of eyes with which I see them with these days. Time along with my personal life lessons seem to cause that to happen.

Update on Joshua

I know I'll probably forever be crucified for this, but it has for so long been getting worse and I am finally at the point of no return. I don't think anyone NEEDS to know this, but given the fact that our situation is so well-known, I wanted others to know the situation and the reasonings... It's extremely personal, but I think necessary to tell...... Anyways.

Five years ago met Josh. He was everything I wanted in a guy - smart, strong-willed, and made me laugh. He was attractive and loving, caring, respectful... I could go on and on. Two and a half years into our relationship he got injured in Iraq. I have been by his side every step of the way since then, not willing to compromise on that decision. He showed me everyday even thru the worst of it how much he cared about me and how much he loved me...he was sweet, thoughtful... and the same old Josh. Last year he proposed to me. I couldn't have been happier than at that moment...
Shortly after that he started to change. He showed little to NO signs of caring for me... he hurt me over and over again, all the time. I started feeling like I was only looked at as a caregiver, not a fiancee, not even a friend. It always seemed like the only time he would actually communicate with me was to throw orders my way of what HE needed. When I talked to him about how I felt about everything...how i was hurting...he would just laugh. It hurt. A LOT! This has been going on for over 9 months...and slowly as time went on and I shut myself off from getting hurt any longer. I finally got to the point where I realized I wasn't happy. I'm not the same happy person I used to be... I always wanted to "get away" to be happy again... and in the end I started hurting him by being gone so much. Needless to say, we were both extremely unhappy. Today I had to do an EXTREMELY difficult thing, and I feel it's better for both of us at this point. It was hard, and a lot of tears were shed, but I know it's the right thing.
Josh and I are no longer together.
We did not fight. We dont' hate each other... and we both decided I would stay in his home with him until he was ready on his own. I will continue doing everything I've done for him along the way... I still care about him. I still love him. We are just two completely different people and I think we'll be forever better off as friends. He will never NOT be a part of my life as long as I can help it...
This is just what's best.

Hope everyone can understand this... understand that this is still a RELATIONSHIP and relationships have issues. I am sincerely hopeful that people don't look at me as "the girl who left the quadriplegic marine", and instead look at it as any other relationship that just doesn't work out. I stuck with him through so much because I loved him with all my heart and soul... the only thing that changed was deeper than skin deep...MUCH. Please understand that. And if you can't...well then I am sorry.

This is what I wrote in my journal about it the other night...I will share my thoughts with everyone... " I'm just sort of numb right now.... I am so tired emotionally...every time I think ok...I can breath now Life has taken on a routine and everything is looking like we can get settled in...we get hit with a new bomb. But we've survived so many hardships, and while I don't understand the "Why us aspect" that all people who survive horrible things and the fall out from it must ask themselves from time to time. I know we will survive this... Just one day at a time, one breath at a time....and sometimes it is just taking it moment to moment and keep moving, don't stop, don't look to the left or the right, you just keep pedaling...I don't know where we are heading, but as long as we keep pedaling, we will arrive somewhere. Does that make sense? Right now tonight...I'm just dog paddling...not much else emotionally....but that is ok, I've dog paddled a lot in the past three years, as has those two kids...so this is something that I can not take the pain away from either one, they have to do this on their own....all I can do is be there for him as he needs me, when he wants me and accept that this might have happened even if he had not been injured. She stuck it out for 3 years....longer than anyone ever thought she would....there have been wives of 15 years that did not make 3 months to some injured vets I was told... I honestly am grateful that when he needed her the most, in the darkest most painful time of his life....if not for Heather...he would not be alive today.....so while I wish it would have been the happy ever after for them both...I understand that with all he has going against him in just the day to day care of him...the why of the break up. I also know he wants her to have everything that he will never be able to give her again...it is just hard to know your child no matter the age is suffering one more loss and there is nothing I can do to make it stop hurting. All I can do is love him, be there to support him through it and help him get to the other side."
Just all I ask is for prayers to help all of us, both families involved to be a support to the kids as their
relationship changes from what they had dreamed it would be, into what it is going to be...the loss of
dreams, hopes..and the beginning of different paths going in different directions for them both...and
please keep in mind that there are two sides to one coin...everyone will only publicly hear for the most
part Heathers side of the coin, it is how Joshua wishes it to be...

He is in counseling for his PTSD and has been working with one who comes to his home once a week from
the VA, he will continue to do so...Joshua is not a perfect man, but like Heather he is a good person. She
is still just as protective of him as I am of her...They are two very real, very human people with human needs,
human failings....who were caught in a very inhumane situation that none of us can change. All we can do is
make the best of it, and follow what ever path it is that God has us on...Some days I can only remind us that
I don't know what the plan is, but he won't give us more than we can handle...to be honest Some days that is
hard to hang on to...I'd like to wave my arms and ask him have you forgotten us down here...I think we've had
enough now...but I know it does not work that way...

I will forever be grate full that she was the woman at his side when this happened. She has quite literally saved
his life on two occasions...and has been a steady rock when he needed one in the darkest time of his life. I wish
only the best for Heather and pray she find peace, love, and happiness as her life moves on in a new direction.
